Gymnastics Instructor

Job Summary: Instruct and motivate students in gymnastics and promote learning of gymnastics skills and techniques. Positions are available for preschool, recreational, team, and adult programs. Those with experience in men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics, trampoline, acrobatics, and circus or cheerleading stunts are encouraged to apply.

Department: Program and Development

Hours: 5-40 hrs/week, summer and year-round positions available

Pay: Salary commensurate with experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a meaningful experience for students enrolled in gymnastics classes
  • Ensure students’ personal safety, well-being, and enjoyment consistent with the program’s mission and policies
  • Observe students to determine physical and artistic abilities and potential
  • Knowledge of spotting techniques for gymnastics and tumbling
  • Assist in setting up and taking down equipment
  • May be responsible for conducting warm-up, stretching, and conditioning exercises
  • Create quality dance performance piece(s) for campers to be produced at summer events and recitals
  • Ability to teach gymnastics to students of all ages
  • Write weekly lesson plans/curriculum as disseminated by the program coordinator
  • Arrives fully prepared for all classes
  • Responsible for ensuring that all locations used are clean and presentable, before and after class
  • Assist with the inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Considerable experience in the sport of gymnastics, as well as working with children
  • Excellent public communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision
  • Competent, reliable, independent and adaptable
  • First Aid, CPR, Lifeguarding, and/or WSI Certifications a plus
  • USA Gymnastics Certifications and/or Professional Membership a plus
